Macquarie Ancient History & Studies of Religion Teachers Conference
Macquarie University is offering a combined Ancient History and Studies of Religion conference On Tuesday 15th May 2018.
The conference has a methodological focus. Every talk is by an expert who will focus on an aspect of Ancient History or Studies of Religion and examine it through a case study, making it relevant, irrespective of whether or not a teacher teaches that particular area.
The event will be opened by the Minister of Education, the Hon. Rob Stokes, and will be headlined by three outstanding keynote speakers. All the keynotes will cover both Ancient History and Studies of Religion:
Professor Christopher Smith (University of St Andrews and former Director of the British School at Rome) - one of the world's leading scholars in Roman history talking on How should we reconstruct the past?
Dr Nicola Stern (LaTrobe University) - the famed excavator talking on Lake Mungo: the deep time history of its people
Professor Tzvi Abusch (Brandeis University) - renowned expert in ancient religion talking on The religious dimension in human history
In all there will be 18 stimulating talks with an entire stream devoted to Studies of Religion. There will be excellent food, and the chance to see the Archibald Exhibition while you are there.
